Mixing
We turn your recordings into a clear, engaging mix — in our Amsterdam control room or fully remote, with the same focus on detail.

A mix decides whether a track breathes or feels flat. At Peonscale we avoid one-size-fits-all chains and instead choose per instrument: where the bass sits, how drums fill the room, and how much space the vocal needs without floating away. Our control room has 2 pairs of nearfields and a 32-channel desk — enough headroom for dense arrangements up to about 48 tracks per song.
You can mix after tracking with us, send stems from your home setup, or attend while we work live. Mix engineer Jeroen van Dijk leads most projects; for larger live recordings we can involve Sanne Bakker for vocal prep and edits before mixing. All rates on this page are consumer prices including 21% VAT; business invoicing is available with 14-day payment terms.
How it works
- 01
Brief
You send stems or a session, tempo, references and a short note on vibe. We confirm within 2 business days that everything is technically usable.
- 02
First mix
We build balance, EQ, compression and space. You receive a listening version (typically mp3 or a stream link) with clear version naming.
- 03
Revisions
You list points with time stamps. 2 revision rounds are included; extra rounds are billed at €89 per hour.
- 04
Delivery
After approval we deliver the final mix as WAV (and stems on request). Files stay archived with us for 24 months.
Who this service fits
Artists who record themselves and want a neutral second pair of ears, bands that tracked in our live room and now want one coherent picture, producers with an almost-finished project that still does not lock, and labels looking for a steady mix partner in Amsterdam — the range is wide. We mostly mix pop, indie, rock, electronic layers and hip-hop; extreme metal with double kicks or large orchestral scores is outside our default scope unless agreed upfront.
Need a rough mix for a pitch? That can sometimes fit a short hourly session. Want a release-ready single? Plan on a full mix per song at €195 for up to 48 tracks. Four-song EPs are often handled as a bundle at €720 when stem layout is similar across tracks.
In-studio or remote
In De Pijp you can listen in the control room while we adjust faders and sends — useful when you want fast decisions on vocal level, guitar solos or snare reverb. Peonscale is in De Pijp, about a 6-minute walk from De Pijp metro station (M52). Trams 1, 3 and 7 serve Ceintuurbaan; from the Stadhouderskade stop it is roughly a 4-minute walk. On-street parking is limited; public transport or cycling works best. — book within Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat 11–17 via contact.
Remote mixing runs on upload and async notes. You deliver WAV stems; we return intermediate bounces. You can combine both: first pass remote, fine-tuning with you in the chair. The hourly rate €89 applies when you share the studio for experimenting, alternate effect chains or several songs in one day.
Delivering stems
Consistent stems save time and cost. Export from bar 1 / beat 1, 24-bit WAV, preferably 48 kHz unless your session differs — tell us if it does. No limiter on the mix bus, no clipping on individual tracks. Name clearly: Kick, Snare_Top, Bass_DI, Vox_Lead, and so on.
Our guide delivering stems for mix covers checklists, reference bounces and common mistakes. Unsure about mono vs stereo synths? Send both or note it in the brief. Above 48 tracks per song we bill extra hours; below 16 tracks the per-song rate may beat hourly work — we advise honestly which path fits.
What we do in the mix
We edit timing only on request; by default we focus on tonal balance, dynamics, space and articulation. Drums gain punch without masking bass; vocals stay readable in busy choruses. We blend analog sends and in-the-box processing depending on genre — no generic “mastering preset” on the mix bus.
If recordings contain clicks, rumble or a wrong backing note, we discuss whether repair is in scope or billed separately. Small fixes within reason are often included; major reconstruction is quoted upfront. Moving straight to mastering? See mastering; we deliver mixes without streaming loudness processing unless you ask otherwise.
Rates at a glance
| Option | When | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Per song | Up to 48 tracks, standard revisions | €195 |
| Per hour | Attended session or extra revisions | €89 |
| EP bundle | Four songs, similar setup | €720 |
Net for business clients: about €161.16 per song ex VAT. Deposit 30% on confirmation; cancellation more than 7 days ahead is free under our terms and conditions. Rates on services overview may change; your quote shows the version valid on 16 October 2026.
Delivery formats
Final mix: 24-bit stereo interleaved WAV with headroom for mastering (peaks well below 0 dBFS). On request: instrumental, TV mix without lead vocal, or mix-bus stems — note that in the brief. Intermediate bounces are compressed for quick listening, not for release.
We share files via secure download; your own cloud is fine if the link stays stable until delivery. Project files are kept 24 months, then removed unless you extend storage. Keep local backups once you have finals.
Turnaround
A single song with complete stems usually takes five to ten business days to first mix, depending on queue and complexity. Attended sessions are often scheduled within two weeks. Rush is sometimes possible at extra cost when the calendar allows — no fixed express fee on the site; we quote per project.
During revisions we respond within 2 business days. One consolidated email per revision round works best: ten points in one message beats ten scattered notes over days.
Not included
Mastering, arranging new parts, recording missing instruments, heavy drum tuning/time-stretch, sample clearance and distribution sit outside standard mixing. Live concert mixes with dozens of audience mics are a separate workflow.
Stems from other studios are checked for level and sync; we cannot fix quality that is not in the source. For credits and rights, see terms and the FAQ.

FAQ
Can I send my DAW session instead of stems?
Sometimes, if the project is compatible (Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton). Stems remain our preference because they load faster and avoid plug-in mismatches. Send an export list first; we confirm what works.
How many revisions are in the per-song rate?
2 rounds with consolidated feedback. After that we bill €89 per extra hour. Major direction changes halfway through are counted fairly.
Do you mix vocals recorded elsewhere?
Yes. Many clients combine vocal recording here with instruments at home. Deliver vocals as dry WAV without reverb on the export unless the effect is intentional.
When do I pay?
30% when you accept the quote, balance before download of finals or per business terms. Questions: [email protected] or 020 737 4826.
What if my song has more than 48 tracks?
We subgroup first (e.g. percussion buses). If it stays too heavy we quote extra hours at €89 — in writing before work starts.
